          Charles Aznavour was born Shahnourh Varinag Aznavourian on May 22, 1924, in Paris, France.

          His parents, Misha and Knar Aznavourian, were Armenian immigrants who had fled their homeland in 1921 following the Armenian Genocide.

          Childhood and Education

          As a young boy, Aznavour faced financial hardship as his father struggled to find stable employment.

          Aznavour would be the last to compare himself with those whom he regards as truly gifted vocalists, such as Sinatra and Mel Torme, preferring to think of.
